Sometimes I am just not in the mood to throw my suspension trainers over a tree. Or to find the perfect clearing to train in. This is especially true when I need to get a quick workout in with little fuss. What I want is a pull-up bar. Parallel bars are a big plus as well. There is no substitute for a standard pull-up bar when it comes to building muscle. Thats why I use local fitness trails for a portion of my training.
Fitness Trails. This is what I google when traveling and looking for a place to workout. Almost everywhere I have been since I started OutdoorFitnessProject has a fitness trail. Parallel and pull up bars are all you need to make for a great workout. Additional stations are a bonus.
Recently on a trip to Florida, I googled fitness trail and found the Legacy trail. The Legacy Trail has a few fitness stations along its 10.8 mile path. I trained at one in Nokomis and one in Caspersens beach. The pictures included in this post are from Caspersens beach.
In Upstate NY, where I live, there are 3 fitness trails within 10 miles from my house. If you look on Instagram or YouTube, you can see plenty of examples of people getting in sick shape training at fitness parks across the country.
In addition to fresh air, fitness trails and parks offer a much more relaxed atmosphere to train than a traditional gym. A big bonus to enjoying your training.
Do you need a outdoor fitness park to make your training outdoors effective? Definitely not. They do make it much easier though.
Take action and search for a fitness trail or park in your area. You may be surprised to find one close by. Than get outside and rep out some pull ups!
