The 400 Challenge

The 400 Challenge

I struggled to breathe as the former Brazilian Pan Am champ wedged his arm under my chin. I was annoyed. My conditioning was terrible, his was great. I was gasping for air the whole match, keeping me one step behind. Then I woke up. I had been submitted by a choke hold.

Check out my latest post on developing insane conditioning.

The Endorsement - Fitness Trails

The Endorsement - Fitness Trails

Sometimes I am just not in the mood to throw my suspension trainers over a tree. Or to find the perfect clearing to train in. This is especially true when I need to get a quick workout in with little fuss. What I want is a pull-up bar. Parallel bars are a big plus as well. There is no substitute for a standard pull-up bar when it comes to building muscle. Thats why I use local fitness trails for a portion of my training.

Pure and Simple - the 3 Pillars of Living a Fit Life

Pure and Simple - the 3 Pillars of Living a Fit Life

“I am Doug Resetar and I believe in fitness.” Even though I took the line from “Pain and Gain,” it is accurate. The major goal of OutdoorFitnessProject is to promote fit living through training outdoors. Training is only one part of the fit living equation. There are two other essential areas to a fit life. There are also countless ancillary areas that fall in various categories.

In this post I focus on the big three. If they are in line, you will be fit.

Challenges

Challenges

Continually challenging my abilities keeps me engaged, some would say obsessed, with my training. Focusing on practicing a particular movement, skill, or speed drill for several weeks is a great way to develop athletically. This is where the challenge comes in. I am challenging you to go out and practice these movements. They will benefit your strength, speed, and muscular endurance.

Vagabond Fitness - How to Make your Fitness an Adventure

I love the stories of free spirits traveling around the world with no home and nowhere to be. They all seem to teach us the same thing: the journey is to be enjoyed, it is not about the destination. This is what OutdoorFitnessProject has become to me. I am constantly motivated to  find new locations to train, each with their challenges and unique characteristics that will drive the workout session.

How can you do the same?

January = Cold

That about sums up my first month training outdoors. The average temp was in the teens for my workouts. Despite the cold, I had a blast training outdoors. I stayed fit, strong, and definitely increased my ability to endure harsh conditions.

Check out the post on what I have learned from my first several weeks training outdoors.
